The exhalation profile is very variable, with upper airways species coming first, and the alveolar fraction coming at the end. To solve this, EXHALION captures the CO2 profile and differentiates lung fractions.
Breath can change from one exhalation to the next. EXHALION guides the exhalation maneuver to induce a steady-state.
The instrument-SoP variability of this study is below person-to-person differences. This allows researchers to capture biological differences.
